Pinot Noir: Liquid silk
Pinot Noir is one of the oldest grape varieties to be cultivated for the purpose of making wine Pinot Noir, named after the noble Pinot family for the pine cone shape of its grape clusters. Since the first century AD, Pinot Noir has been cultivated in the Burgundy region of France . This vine, called vitis allobergica, was bred from wild native vines. The Gallic tribes drank a wine they made from these grapes and carefully stored their creation in wooden casks instead of the clay vases the Romans were using at the time.
Well made Pinot Noir creates a lasting impression on the palate and in the memory. The most appealing quality of Heslip Family Pinot Noir
may be its soft, velvety texture, it is like liquid silk, gently caressing the palate.
Heslip Pinot grapes were grown by Pat Kuleto on terraced hillsides above Rutherford in the Napa Valley. They are 100% Pinot Noir grapes, vinified, intra-varietally blended and aged in our stone winery. The grapes were fermented with old world yeasts, chosen to accent the luscious berry quality. This limited production was made with the patience and attention necessary to capture the wonderful qualities of this Burgundian grape.
